ECOLOGY
Niches
Every organism has a niche(s) that help them survive in and adapt to their habitat. A niche is the unique role and position a species has in its invironment. This includes all bioitc and abiotic interactions as an animal meets its needs for survival and reproduction.

Turtle:
The turtle, which is located in or near the pond, feeds off of plants on land and under water. They also feed on dragonfly larva, which helps keep the population of these insects at a low number. Their shell helps protect them from the dangerous rays that come from the sun, and their webbed feet help allow them to move easily on both land and in the water.
Goose:
Geese can be found on land or floating on the water. They can use their wings to fly, and their webbed feet to help them swim. They typically have a diet of grasses and
other plant material. The feces of the geese help to add nutrients to the soil, making the soil more fertile for plants to grow. Geese protect their goslings by hissing at any threats (including humans) that may possibly harm them.
House Sparrow (Passer Domesticus):
These birds are very commonly found in many different parks, and even in backyards. The forage while hopping around on the ground, and eat whatever is available. They are aggressive towards other species, and sometimes push other birds out of their nests. House Sparrows are primaraily seedeaters, but eat insects, especially during the breeding season. They build nests in any safe, open place they can find, such as trees and crevices in buildings.
