Commensalism is the relationship in which the presence of one species has a beneficial effect on the other. However, this species is not affected by the association. In simpler terms, one species benefits and the other one is not affected. The commensalistic relationship being displayed is between a colony of bees and their bee hive, and a tree. The bees build their bee hive on the tree, where they take shelter and create their necessary food. The tree does not receive anything in return, and the tree is left unharmed.
